How do I show my company branches on an interactive map?

Your customer wants the nearest branch, and an address table on a contact page does not answer that. An interactive map turns your branch list into an experience: see the closest, tap, navigate. This article covers the three real implementation paths, when the free one is enough, and when you need more.

Option one: a Google Maps embed, and when it is enough

With one or two branches, embedding Google Maps is free and quick: open the branch in Google Maps, choose share then embed, and paste the code. Its limits appear as you grow: each embed shows a single fixed location, with no filters, no brand styling, and no extra per-branch details.

Option two: a map generated from your own spreadsheet

If your branches live in Excel or Google Sheets with coordinate columns, you can turn them into a full interactive map in minutes: every branch a colored point by type, an info window with phone and hours, and a legend that filters by category. Our own Map Studio does exactly this: paste the table, columns are auto-detected, and everything runs inside your browser without uploading your data anywhere.

Option three: a custom map inside your website

For businesses where branches are part of the buying journey, retail, clinics, restaurants, a custom embedded map gives full control: nearest-branch search, city and service filters, your brand styling, and a live database connection so new branches appear automatically. It costs more than an embed, and pays back in customer experience.

Common mistakes to avoid

The ones we see most: coordinates pasted wrong so branches render in the sea, text addresses with no coordinates at all, and heavy maps that slow the page by loading huge libraries to show three points. The rule: visually verify every point before publishing, and start with the lightest solution that meets the need.

Frequently asked questions

I do not have my branch coordinates, where do I get them?

Open the branch in Google Maps and long-press the location: the coordinates appear at the top and can be copied straight into your sheet. One time per branch.

Will an interactive map slow my website down?

Modern open libraries are light if the map loads only where needed instead of on every page. That is how the maps in our demos load, without touching the rest of the site.

How much does a custom branch map cost?

It depends on branch count, data source, and features like nearest-branch search. The honest path is assessing your need first: sometimes the free option genuinely covers it.
